  24. This is pretty much how KRT began... At that time my impression was
  25. C-Kermit would be used for RSTS and I didn't see much hope for that
  26. under RT-11, so I didn't see any problem with deriving an RT-specific
  27. update of K11.

  29. This led to a bit of a mess with two versions of (more or less) the
  30. same software, so now if there's anything I can do to help prevent
  31. yet another version of it please ask.  It shouldn't be too difficult
  32. to do conditional assemblies in the shared modules, for example.

  34. The very latest KRT, which is almost ready to begin its field test
  35. (most of the work left is cleaning up the doc and help files) is
  36. available now at ftp.vnet.net:/pub/users/billy/KRT*.  Among other
  37. things this one supports setting individual attributes on or off,
  38. does set control-char unprefixed ala C-Kermit and in general is in
  39. much better condition for what you're doing as all the source files
  40. have been thoroughly cleaned up.

  43. after which you'd have quite a bit of time to make changes and
  44. additions without any worry someone is still working on it else-

  50. There is still a lot of interest in the RT-11 Kermit, and I imagine
  51. there were a lot more RSTS systems sold that are still around, so

  59. I used KRT because RTK was already taken (an older RT-11 Kermit).
  60. RT-11 is limited to file names with 6.3 chars max, which doesn't
  61. leave a whole lot of practical choices available.  Frank da Cruz
  62. is the person to figure this one out, if it has to be changed at
  63. all, that is.
